Ontario is the last province in Canada where cropping, dewclaw removal and docking remains legal. We are now facing the powers that be, who want to put our breed and others at risk and take away our choice. Ear cropping, dewclaw removal and docking is not abuse and does provide health benefits and prevention of injury. If this ban succeeds, it will decimate the future of the Doberman breed as well as others. When done by a licensed vet and with the support of a reputable breeder these procedures go smoothly.

The problem is people who are cropping and docking on their own accord or are going to a vet that has no experience, that's when they run into issues. The general public and veterinarians need education, as many have zero experience.

I wish nay sayers would put their focus on actual animal abuse. We have laughable laws in that regard but their concern is for practices done for prevention of injury which are performed by professionals. Make that make sense. The opposing side is loud but most of them have no knowledge about these practices or any experience involved with it. They are spreading fear and false information about these practices.

Dobermans are my passion and I maintain the right to choose.

I will always be pro dock and crop and pro choice.
